  • For Defense Against Active Shooters, University Hands Out Hockey Pucks

Hockey pucks: They're small and heavy and one Michigan college thinks may be the perfect weapon against an active shooter on campus.

Oakland University, a public school in Rochester Hills, near Detroit, is distributing thousands of 94-cent hockey pucks for just that reason.

Those wouldn't even work against hockey players.

      Follow the reasoning here...

...it is APPROPRIATE to fight back against a gunman...

...yet it is INAPPROPRIATE to actually use a tool designed for that purpose.

Pete (wonders how that guy made it through college)

If only there were a good tool designed for that purpose... hmm...

Lunacy, right? Let's just use hockey pucks.

Heck, at least 50% of them are girls.

I know a graduate of Oakland college. If he had a hockey puck and wished me harm...

i wouldnt be worried about bout the hockey puck.
They speak in bulletpointese leftist nutjob drivel. It doesn't matter. Nothing is as great a motivator as the chance to truly be free.

                More guns! Guns solve everything.

I was more thinking along the lines that it's incredibly unrealistic to expect college kids to put up a fight.

Pete (thinks it's more unrealistic to expect them to fight with hockey pucks)

If there is to be an attempted solution that involves fighting back, it makes little sense to offer a weapon that isn't effective.

                        Pete (didn't think of that)

                          Except I didn't say that.

Nobody said what you said either!

                            Pete (thinks that's the point)

Imagine if every student (trained or not) had a gun and was actively trying to identify the gunman (who could very well look like all the other students with a gun).
