It causes panic because of the way people have been conditioned. Open or concealed, the gun still exists. It's not Schrodinger's Cat. Ultimately though, I'm not a fan of open carry. Why would you make yourself a target or give up the element of surprise?

Had lunch yesterday after church with my wife and two of our friends. A guy and his wife/girlfriend came in after us. He was Hispanic. He had a semi-auto handgun on his hip, fully exposed. He ordered, went to his table, picked up his meal and made 2-3 more trips to the drink machine. Skooly, believe it or not, not an eyebrow was visibly raised. He never threatened anyone, never pulled his weapon or caused any trouble. And no one else pulled their weapon and held him for the police. Just another day at BK.

          He should try Viagra.

Jon is saying a guy who has to walk around with a gun has problems getting it up, so, he should try using Viagra. That's funny.

At the little german restaurant here, there's an old guy who's a regular. He comes in, always wearing the most ridiculous pearl-handled chrome and gold revolvers along with a gun belt with ammo loops. It just looks ludicrous on this tiny old man, but nobody cares.

I usually concealed carry a little Ruger, but I open carry my Glock from time to time and nobody has ever said a thing.

Of course he will. When you remove the emotional nonsense, he broke no laws. The guy who drew on him is actually the real danger. The guy had already exited the store when the guy drew on him and detained him. Are we a nation of laws or have we completely devolved into a nation of emotional nonsense? Has everyone been infected with Trump Derangement Syndrome? Have all these fools bought into the media fed lie that "White Nationalism" is somehow the greatest threat this nation faces when, in reality, it's no threat at all? Has everyone gone fucking mad?

Looks to be a moron you tuber that films himself in public trying to push the police's buttons and then uploads the material.

I don't see any grounds for a lawsuit if he wasn't assaulted during the arrest.

False arrest is a crime. When the police do it, the individuals are, of course, immune from prosecution, but the department is liable for civil torts.
