Armed bystander shoots, kills suspected carjacker at Walmart

A bystander in Washington fatally shot a carjacking suspect on Sunday after the carjacker allegedly shot a man who refused to give up control of his vehicle, according to police.

    ...

Witnesses told KOMO that a total of three bystanders pulled guns on the suspect and at least one of them fired. The driver in the first attempted carjacking was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, about 60 miles north of Tumwater. His condition was not disclosed.
Pete (supposes this isn't a "great moment" because these kinds of things are fairly common)

There's something wrong with that story. 1 dead and 22 injured and only one arrest sounds to me like a brawl which escalated into someone shooting.

Pete (can't imagine a bunch of gun-toting gang members being that ineffective with guns)

1 dead and 22 injured after gunfire at New Jersey art festival

A dispute between rival gang members was the probable cause behind a shooting that erupted in the early morning hours of a popular all-night arts festival in Trenton, killing one, injuring 22, and leaving New Jersey's capital in a state of shock on Father's Day.

Gov. Phil Murphy said the shooting may have stemmed from a “low-end neighborhood-level dispute” that spilled over into the venue.

But with thousands in attendance, that dispute quickly turned into a mass shooting involving multiple weapons, and adding New Jersey to the list of states nationwide that have had casualties from gun violence at large gatherings.

"This is yet another reminder of the senselessness of gun violence," Murphy said at a midday news conference at Galilee Baptist Church, noting he had signed six stringent gun measures into law last week.

Lindsey was a felon on probation after he pleaded no contest to arson and other charges stemming from an incident in 2008,
And look at the format of the article; his face right there, with a headline shouting, "Gary Wayne Lindsey Jr, here's what we know about him!"

It's a good thing the press doesn't glorify these people.

That last one is a sad story, but crazy people don't need guns to kill little kids...

Pete (hates reading crap like that)

Florida Man Kills 4 Children And Himself After Daylong Standoff With Police

A Florida man killed four children and shot a police officer before he took his own life, ending a daylong standoff with police on Monday, police said.

The standoff started shortly before midnight on Sunday when police responded to a domestic violence call from a woman at an apartment complex in Orlando, Florida, the Orlando Police Department said on Twitter.

When police arrived, the suspect shot a police officer and then barricaded himself inside an apartment where he held hostage four children ages 1, 6, 10 and 11, police said.

The standoff ended at about 9 p.m. local time on Monday, when police entered the apartment and found the children and the suspect Gary Wayne Lindsey Jr. dead of gunshot wounds, Orlando Police Chief John Mina told reporters during a press conference.

I've rarely seen the lot of us so firmly in agreement on anything related to these kinds of contentious issues.

Should we start fighting for making classes on techniques for subduing an active shooter generally available.

Plus if these assholes knew there would be resistance, that they'd most likely get their asses kicked and be humiliated, and that the guy who stopped them would get all the press, they's stop trying this crap.

Pete (wants to beat the shit out of them anyway)

2 good guys with guns stop 1 bad guy with a gun. Doesn't seem fair, does it? It's still unclear what all went down, but the essence is that a guy goes into an upscale local restaurant and unloads on the patrons, wounding 2 females (one a 13 year old). He leaves (reason unknown) and 2 guys (separately) go to their vehicles and get their weapons. At least one of the two then shoots the shooter when he refused to drop his weapon.

The interesting thing is that, supposedly, the shooter was a security guard, one of the good guys is a security guard and the other is a reserve police officer.
