He's just trying to get the 49ers to release him.

Pete (thinks it will work, but wonders if anyone will want him)

After those surgeries he has the "Chad Pennington noodle" for an arm. I imagine someone with cap space would sign him in the hopes of him working out and regaining his strength.

Well, I suppose Denver has experienced some success with a noodle-arm recently...

Pete (wouldn't want a second helping, though)

This is the shit you think is a good idea when you live in the San Francisco bubble.

We'll see. My guess is after the 49ers cut him and he joins up with a new team, he'll suddenly have a change of heart and stand for the anthem with everyone else.

Pete (thinks this is entirely a PR thing)

Near the end of the media scrum, Kaepernick was asked if the pending presidential election had anything to do with the timing of his actions. He replied that the two presidential candidates that we currently have also represent the issue that we have in this country right now. When asked to expound, he said, I mean, you have Hillary [Clinton] whos called black teens or black kids super-predators. You have Donald Trump whos openly racist. I mean, we have a presidential candidate whos deleted emails and done things illegally and is a presidential candidate. That doesnt make sense to me, because if that was any other person, youd be in prison. So what is this country really standing for?

SANTA CLARA (CBS/AP) The union for police officers who work 49ers home games says its members may boycott policing the stadium if the 49ers dont discipline Colin Kaepernick for refusing to stand during the national anthem and for his statements about law enforcement

So if you don't like the police state enforcers they won't protect you, but they will take your money. Fucking cops.

Send the wrong message. A body that is supposed to be dedicated to the protection of people's rights should threaten anyone for the expression of those rights. An individual officer can independently make that decision, but an org that represents them should not. If my FOP did this, I be pissed, and they'd hear it.

                                http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...cuts/89835266/

Colin Kaepernick not cut by 49ers, but Blaine Gabbert to start at QB

The San Francisco 49ers have kept quarterback Colin Kaepernick on their 53-man roster. But Blaine Gabbert will begin the season at quarterback, coach Chip Kelly announced.

The 49ers open the season against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday, Sept. 2. Kaepernick will serve as the backup for that game, Kelly said.

Final roster cuts were due Saturday at 4 p.m. ET, though teams can still release or add players afterward.
I would ask why the hell the 49ers refuse to cut Kaepernick, but they've had such a completely insane front office for the past few years that this is just part of the trend. He is costing them $15 million against the cap, but his dead money hit would be $19 million if they cut him. Still, if they cut him now, he'll be only $5M next year and $2.5M the year after. By keeping him, they kick the can down the road another year...he'll be a $20M cap hit each of the next three years. He needs to be cut as soon as possible, but they just won't do it.

Maybe it's spite...I don't know? Maybe they think they can trade him? Maybe Chip Kelly actually wants him...though at $20M a year I think that's insane. Whatever the reason, the team now has a player that they don't want taking up a roster spot that they probably need. How does that make any sense?

                                Who knows?

                                Pete (sure doesn't)
