I doubt delaying the vote until after the midterms is the goal. The Dems probably know they weren't going to get that. Even with an FBI investigation it would only add up to a week to the proceedings.

As Jester kind of referenced, the goal is to use the fact that Kavanaugh will be appointed despite the controversy, against the republicans in the midterms. The Dems just want to delay the vote as much as possible so that this will still be a fresh issue when the midterms come up. This is about fundraising and turning out the vote.

And contrary to insinuations that this is bad for the "me too" movement, it won't harm it, and instead is set to exploit it to galvanize women against the GOP in the next elections.

I honestly can't tell if you're that stupid or if you just think everyone else is and I don't know which is worse.

Amen brother skooly. You're one of the true believers for sure.

Steve (knows a delay until after the.midterms is the one and only goal)
She wanted to impact Kavanaugh's nomination without putting herself in the ringer. A pretty stupid and naive expectation, but plausible

Feinstein et al have exploited her. That doesn't mean her claims are false, just that she is in no position to prove them. But the Dems probably did the homework and knew there was little evidence beyond a thin "he said, she said" story, so they held it until they could drop it for maximum controversy. If they thought the info could legitimately derail the nomination they would have released it sooner.

So if she is telling the truth she has now been abused for a second time.

Steve (wonders which abuse is worse)

that one is easy today answer. She didnít have to move away and hide her family because of Kavanaugh, but because of Congress.

so unless other stories leak out from other victims/witnesses, then I agree it goes nowhere.

                Ronan Farrow breaking another one

The claim dates to the 1983-84 academic school year, when Kavanaugh was a freshman at Yale University. The offices of at least four Democratic senators have received information about the allegation, and at least two have begun investigating it. Senior Republican staffers also learned of the allegation last week and, in conversations with The New Yorker, expressed concern about its potential impact on Kavanaughís nomination. Soon after, Senate Republicans issued renewed calls to accelerate the timing of a committee vote.
