    Bears add Sedrick Ellis.

      Well, that figures.

The Bears on Monday waived fullback Evan Rodriguez, brought back receiver Devin Aromashodu for a second stint with the team and made four other personnel moves.

Here's what I'm really happy about:

The Bears on Sunday traded offensive lineman Gabe Carimi to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The trade is contingent on Carimi passing a physical.

The Bears are 3-0 for the first time since 2010.

Melton may be out with a torn ACL. What's up with Tillman?

Melton's an idiot for not signing a long term contract. Now he is probably fucked.

Bears sign Cutler to 7-year deal

Thanks to Jen for the tip...

The Bears have signed quarterback Jay Cutler to a seven-year contract, general manager Phil Emery announced Thursday at Halas Hall.

"We're very excited to have Jay for the long term," Emery said. "He battled through the tough times and kept fighting."
            http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports...,0,56303.story

Cutler is the best QB the Bears have had in decades, maybe ever. I'm not sure I'm going to want him playing QB in 5 years, though, much less 7. We'll see. He's 30-years-old. Will he perform now that he has the big contract? Will he stay healthy that long? Will he be too old to play effectively before those 7 years are up?

No terms are listed on any of the articles yet, so we don't get to know if it's REALLY a 7-year deal.

              Pete (expects that it isn't)

28 players' contracts are up this year: http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/...0-01203555.pdf

-Jon (wants to see a lot of players cut, especially on the defensive side of the ball)

Chris Conte better not be back.

Why would they say it's 7 years if it isn't?

There are clauses that could release a player earlier. It really depends on the language of the contract.

NFL contracts aren't guaranteed. You could sign a player to a million-year contract and cut him 2 minutes later, paying him only 2 minutes worth of time (or probably nothing).

What really matters is what is guaranteed.
