THE ORVILLE Official Trailer (2017) Star Trek Spoof, Seth MacFarlane

This actually looks more promising than Discovery. Sigh.

Stark Trek should just really support this stuff.

Has anyone read "Redshirts" by John Scalzi?

This makes me think of that a little and that was fantastic.
They speak in bulletpointese leftist nutjob drivel. It doesn't matter. Nothing is as great a motivator as the chance to truly be free.

One thing that Marvel has going for it, is the different characters in it's universe. Depending on the subject matter you can get very different stories with different types of movies. Even with the Star Wars spin off universe your starting to get films with a different ambiance.
Star Trek unfortunately replaced the original feel of the series with a new one. Good for a different feel to expand the universe, bad to use it as a replacement. The original Trek is gone. I don't like that. I am not gonna say I hate the new films either. They just need to diversify.

If by "read", you mean listened to in an audiobook.... Yes. Great book.

Jesse (never feels like he has time to read anymore, other than justput)

I picked up Red Shirts at a book store the other day and smiled. I didn't know he wrote that book until then. I'll have to read it. I loved the Old Man's War series.

I'm dreading the flop that will be Star Trek: Discovery, but I'm really looking forward to this show.

"I think it's going to be at least 14 [episodes]," MacFarlane said. That's more than the 12 that made up Season 1, but considerably less than the typical 22-episode order count for broadcast shows, but there's a reason for that. "I'd rather do fewer episodes and have them be better content-wise than do 22 and have them be filler." The 14 episodes may actually be the result of Season 1 moving an episode back to Season 2, so if you want to get technical about it, it's really two 13-episode seasons.
