EVANSTON -- A pair of lawsuits filed Wednesday in Cook County Circuit Court accuse a former Evanston High School teacher of sexually abusing two students decades ago.

Curious. Now that there's a lawsuit, and that's public record, why bother hiding the guy's name?

Third lawsuit - Evanston teacher Mr. Siewerth "re-arranged" freshman

Third lawsuit - Siewerth "re-arranged" freshman:

In the suit filed this week, Daniel Romain, an ETHS student between 1981 and 1985, alleges that Siewerth reached down his tights during a production of Hamlet when he was a freshman. According to the Chicago Tribune, which was first to report the third lawsuit, Romain said Siewerth claimed he was "pointing the wrong way," and put his hands on the student's genitalia "and 're-arranged' him."

According to the previous two lawsuits, filed Oct. 25 on behalf of students identified as John Doe 1 and John Doe 2 who graduated in 1979 and 1980, Siewerth groped and fondled boys' genitalia, put his hands down their pants, made them dress and undress in front of him, took them to pornographic films while on theater trips and emotionally manipulated them into being afraid to report the abuse.

The claims initially arose on social media. They prompted Evanston police to open an investigation into the matter. Commander Joseph Dugan said police have received about 100 phone calls about it, including about 15 to 20 people who claimed they were victims, and the investigation continues.

Siewerth, who is now 77 and worked at the school from the 1960s until he retired in 1999, has not been charged with any crime in connection to the claims.

He could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday.

But in response to the earlier claims, Siewerth said last month: ďIím not a sexual predator, for goodness sake. Iím a grandfather. These are people who donít like me because I didnít cast them. I donít know why itís coming up now.Ē

No charges for former Evanston teacher accused of sexual abuse

EVANSTON, Ill. -- A former Evanston Township High School (ETHS) teacher will not face charges for allegations of sexual misconduct decades ago, but police say itís not for a lack of evidence.

Evanston police said 35 people came forward to say they were victims of theater teacher Bruce Siewerth decades ago when he was a teacher at ETHS.

Detectives have investigated their stories for months and said 40 to 50 people corroborated the alleged victimsí stories.

ďThe Cook County Stateís Attorneyís Office will not be able to bring charges because the statute of limitations expired,Ē an office spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Last fall, at least half a dozen former students told WGN Investigates they were victims or witnesses to inappropriate conduct by theater teacher in the 1980ís and 1990ís.
The local TV news video clip at that link is quite better than the written story.

Why is there a statute of limitations on child abuse?
They speak in bulletpointese leftist nutjob drivel. It doesn't matter. Nothing is as great a motivator as the chance to truly be free.
