    That might be true...

    ...but disenfranchisement by government is far more crippling and easy to implement than disenfranchisement by trade, and that's what the south has actually had for centuries.

    Pete (can imagine a free market state where a group of people is totally shunned, but thinks the pressures to cheat and take their money and services would eventually win out)

    You’re forgetting that those discriminating against minorities had the force of law behind them. Government should have never been big enough to do either in the first place.
